Women in the military

I am procrastinating at the moment, so I am going to post something that Nick said about why there aren't many women as commanders in the army (see link in previous post).

Women and men are fundamentally different. They are not inherently better or worse than each other, but there are some inherent differences in both mind and body.

In order to advance to the highest levels of the military, a combat tour is basically obligatory. As women are usually not front line combat soldiers, this would keep them from the top slots.

There is not set rule keeping women from, say, infantry positions and some do indeed fill this role. Typically, however, the requirements fit a male's physiology. In a combat situation, lives are depending on these requirements, and no one who is not up to it, male or female, should be in that position. Again, not a question of better or worse, just different."
